The ExTemp Intrinsically Safe Infrared Temperature Sensors non-contact measure the temperature of the surface of a solid or liquid in the hazardous area (Ex Zones (0), 1, 2, (20), 21, 22) and relay this linear 4-20 mA output. All models have adjustable emissivity and can be used to measure a variety of target materials including food, paper, textiles, plastics, leather, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, rubber, carbon, asphalt and paint. A choice of precision optics is available to measure small or large targets at short or long distances. With the optional LCT Loop Configuration Tools (USB and RS-485 adapters) and free software, the ExTemp can be connected to a PC, PLC or SCADA system for temperature display, sensor configuration and data acquisition. These sensors are primarily intended for use in hazardous locations in conjunction with a suitable safety barrier or isolator. All models have been certified by Certification Management Ltd. as intrinsically safe for use in gas and dust hazardous areas. They comply with the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and have certificates for IECEx (international), TIIS (Japan) and UKCA (United Kingdom).
